Regaining control over logistical operations

Challenge:
Ahold Delhaize USA outsourced logistics for years, resulting in a fragmented network of distribution centers with varying systems and integrations. This lack of visibility made it costly and time-consuming to onboard new suppliers or manage expenses, hindering innovation. Major challenges included the diverse supplier base and the critical nature of logistical processes.

Approach:
We designed a reusable integration solution to standardize all distribution centers and bring logistics back in-house, providing full control over processes and data. A 3-layer API architecture was implemented to ensure standardized system access, process optimization, and easy stakeholder engagement. The platform offers flexibility and scalability for integrating new centers.

Result:
The solution integrated dozens of distribution centers, significantly improving control, efficiency, and cost savings. Initially planned as a 2.5-year project, it was completed in just 7 months and remains a key component of their logistics strategy.
